Careers
Our Careers Programme
St George’s seeks to maximise the life chances of all our young people and through our careers programme ensure that students are informed, inspired and motivated about each step of their education and future career.
At St George’s school we promote equality of opportunity and offer all students a wide range of careers opportunities. Independent careers advice and guidance is offered to all students and the national standard of The Gatsby Benchmarks are used as a framework for our careers provision.
In summary, the benchmarks are as follows:
- A stable careers programme
- Learning from career and labour market information
- Addressing the needs of each pupil
- Linking curriculum learning to careers
- Encounters with employers and employees
- Experiences of workplaces
- Encounters with further and higher education
- Personal guidance
Our Careers Programme is regularly evaluated and validated by our local careers and enterprise company allowing us to reflect and develop our practice using the Gatsby Benchmarks.
Parental Support
Talking to your child about their career aspirations, understanding and plans is an important step in helping them to establish a pathway which suits them. Sitting down for a question and answer session can be an effective way to help your child to continuously shape their plans to suit their needs.
Local Employers / Alumni
There are lots of ways that local employers and alumni can engage with our students from attending our annual Careers Fair to coming in to talk to different year groups within the school or supporting with developing student’s interview skills.
If you are a local business or ex-Georgian and would like to work with us in any way, please get in touch via the key contact information below.
