Headteacher's Welcome

It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to St George’s School, a vibrant and dynamic community where we nurture the talents and aspirations of every student. Whether you are a current member of our school, a prospective student or parent, or a visitor, I am delighted that you are taking the time to learn more about what makes St George’s a truly special place to learn, work and live.

Founded in 1907 by the inspirational Cecil Grant, pioneer of co-educational boarding, St George’s has a remarkable history as one of the first non-denominational Christian schools in the country. Remaining true to his vision to this day, St George’s is committed to academic excellence, personal growth, and values that define our community; aiming higher, respecting others, showing integrity and compassion. We believe that every student has the potential to achieve greatness, and we are dedicated to providing an environment that challenges and supports in equal measure.

Our teaching aims to inspire a love of learning and to equip students with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in an ever-changing world. Our staff are dedicated professionals, always seeking to improve themselves and the learning environment. Alongside our rigorous curriculum, we offer a wide range of extracurricular activities, from the academic and artistic, to the spiritual and sporting, ensuring that every student has the opportunity to explore their interests and develop their passions.

We do all of this from the sanctuary and springboard that is our House system. We are proud to be a school where every individual is valued and where students are encouraged to support one another in all aspects of school life. Staff in the boarding and day houses work tirelessly to create a nurturing environment where student wellbeing is a priority, and where pastoral care is woven into the fabric of our daily routines.

I warmly invite you to explore our website, visit our school, or attend one of our open events to see first-hand the exceptional opportunities that St George’s has to offer. Whether you are joining us for the first time or continuing your journey with us, I am confident that you will find a welcoming and inspiring environment here at St George’s.
