The Cecil Grant Founder’s Trust Deed requires a minimum of seven trustees, made up of two School governors, two Old Georgians, two parents, and the Headteacher.
The CGFT trustees are all volunteers whose role is to administer the Trust in accordance with the Rev Cecil Grant’s wishes.

Benjamin Noakes – Chair – Governor Trustee
Ben is a parent to three children who all currently attend St George’s. He is a governor of the school and sits on the Staff & Students Committee.
Ben and his wife Helen have lived with their children in Harpenden since 2010. He has spent his entire career working in the City in the financial markets as a foreign exchange options broker.
In his spare time he can be found at Harpenden Golf Club.
David Horton – Secretary – Old Georgian Trustee
David is a former pupil of St George’s; he was here from 1983-1990. David has been a member of the Old Georgians for several years and took over as Secretary of CGFT in November 2013. He has been a qualified solicitor since 2003 and works as a commercial lawyer for a media technology company, based at Pinewood Film Studios. David lives in Harpenden with his wife Rebecca and two children. In his spare time, David is a ski instructor (a passion arising from St George’s ski holidays) and teaches at The Snow Centre in Hemel Hempstead.
Andy Ford – Headteacher Trustee
Headteacher of St George’s since September 2024.
Elizabeth Cowan – Governor Trustee
Liz is a parent to two children. Liz is a governor on the Curriculum Committee, and she volunteers in the Science Department. She ran the Tea Tent at the school Summer Fete until 2019. Liz trained and practised as a solicitor before she had her children. Until recently, Liz was PCC Secretary of her church and she is secretary of her children’s Scout Group. In her spare time Liz enjoys singing in a local Chamber Choir, playing tennis and walking the dog.
Beverly Greenfield – Parent Trustee
Beverly is a parent of two children, one currently at St George’s, and is an active member of the PSA. She previously worked for the Royal London Society for the Blind for 14 years, helping visually impaired and vulnerable people with learning, physical or mental health difficulties into sustainable employment; Beverly now works for Hertfordshire County Council. Hobbies include cooking, spending time with family and friends and supporting her church team at St John’s in Lemsford.
Rebecca Westlake – Old Georgian Trustee
Rebecca is a proud ‘Old Georgian’ with many happy memories of attending the school from 1990-97. She is married to Nick and their three children all attend St George’s. Rebecca trained and worked as a solicitor in the City for a number of years before deciding to spend more time at home with her children. Rebecca enjoys going to the gym, the theatre and travelling with her family.
Jill Tallantire – Parent Trustee
Jill is married with four children, one of whom is still at St George’s. Jill works part-time, and is an active member of the school community. As a parent, Jill understands how fortunate the school is to receive the benefit of the Founder’s Trust and is keen that all Georgians have the opportunity to ‘Aim Higher’.
Denise Ganley – Treasurer – Parent Trustee
Denise has two children, with one still at the School. She is a chartered accountant with over 20 years’ experience working in finance roles and currently works part-time for a medical research charity.
Denise has been part of the team who arrange flowers in the school chapel for many years. In her spare time, she enjoys going to the gym, following tennis and reading as part of a book group.
Eleanor Kelly – Parent Trustee
Eleanor is a solicitor with over 20 years’ experience working in London-based law firms and in the legal publishing and technology sector. She and her family have lived in Harpenden since 2011 and she has one child attending St George’s at present, with her two younger children to follow. As one of the appointed Trustees, she hopes to help the Cecil Grant Founder’s Trust to continue its valuable work in donating funds to St George’s, enabling the school to provide the best possible environment for its students to thrive, learn and grow. Eleanor also volunteers with her children’s cubs group and regularly supports school fundraising events. In her spare time, she enjoys pilates, walking, reading, and spending time with her family and their dog.
