One Day. One Community. One Assembly Hall.
Thank You for Making St George’s Giving Day a Success!
We are thrilled to share that St George’s first-ever Giving Day was a tremendous success! Thanks to your generosity, we raised £48,000 towards the refurbishment of our Assembly Hall. Your support will make a lasting impact, and we can’t wait to show you the results of the work later this year.
If you have donated already, remember that you may be able to increase your gift if your employer offers match funding. This is a wonderful way to double the impact of your contribution and would help us achieve even more for our school community.
If you would like to donate towards the refurbishment, you can still do so. Please follow the link below to contribute.
Thank you once again for your incredible support. We are excited to share updates on the refurbishment progress with you very soon!

What can you do now?
Your contributions will help the school to fund the following essential areas:
New Chairs £30,000
Flexible Tiered Seating £25,000
Comfortable, supportive chairs help students sit properly for longer periods, engage and behave well during assemblies, exams and events. Upgraded facilities demonstrate investment in students and the learning environment, helping our pupils to feel valued and proud of their school.
New Window Film & Blinds £14,000
Window film can help regulate temperature by reducing heat build-up in warmer months and retaining warmth in colder weather. A stable temperature supports student wellbeing and reduces distraction caused by discomfort, supporting a better exam environment.
Blinds allow staff to adapt lighting levels to suit different activities such as assemblies, exams, performances or guest speakers. This flexibility supports a range of learning needs and makes the space more accessible for all students.
Improved Sound & Lighting £60,000
Improved sound and lighting in the Assembly Hall would greatly benefit students by creating a more inclusive, engaging and effective environment for learning and school events. Clear sound ensures that all students can hear speakers, presentations and performances without strain, improving focus and understanding while supporting those with hearing difficulties or additional learning needs. Updated lighting enhances visibility, reduces eye strain and helps students stay attentive while also supporting accessibility through clearer visual cues. Together, improved sound and lighting make assemblies more meaningful and enjoyable, promote student wellbeing and demonstrate a commitment to providing a high-quality learning environment for everyone.
In addition, upgraded facilities would allow the school to use the assembly hall for external events and commercial hire, generating additional income that can be reinvested into resources and opportunities that further benefit students.
Stage Extension £7,000
A stage extension would be a valuable improvement for the school as it would provide a larger, more flexible performance space for drama, music and whole-school events. At present, the school has to hire a stage extension for performances which is costly and requires additional setup time and planning. Having a permanent stage extension would reduce these ongoing expenses, improve safety and efficiency and allow students to rehearse and perform in a space that properly supports their work. It would enhance the quality of productions, increase participation opportunities and make the hall more suitable for a wider range of school and community events.
Sand & Varnish the Floor £5,000
Sanding and varnishing the assembly hall floor would significantly improve the space by enhancing both its appearance and functionality. A smooth, well-finished floor would create a safer environment. It would also improve the overall look of the hall, making it brighter, cleaner and more welcoming for assemblies, performances and events. In addition, a properly sealed and varnished floor is more durable and easier to clean and maintain, helping to protect the surface from wear and extending its lifespan. This improvement would support a wide range of activities including drama, music, dance and physical movement.
Air-Conditioning £20,000
Air conditioning in the school hall would greatly improve comfort, wellbeing and usability of the space throughout the year. It helps maintain a consistent, comfortable temperature, allowing students and staff to focus during assemblies, examinations, performances and events without distraction from heat or poor air quality, particularly during large gatherings or warmer months. Air conditioning also improves ventilation and air circulation. Overall, it makes the hall more suitable for learning, performances and community use and increases its potential for extended use and external hire.
Redecoration £2,000
Redecorating the school assembly hall would significantly improve the atmosphere and functionality of the space by creating a brighter, more welcoming and more inspiring environment for students, staff and visitors. A refreshed hall can boost student pride and engagement, making assemblies, performances and events feel more special and valued. New décor can also enhance lighting levels, acoustics and overall presentation, which will support learning and creative activities. In addition, a well-maintained, modern-looking space reflects positively on the school, supports community and commercial use of the hall and helps protect surfaces from wear, extending the life of the building.
