Year 12 Oxford Taster Day
Last Wednesday, some of our Year 12 students visited Balliol College, Oxford for a university taster day.
We set off from St George’s in bright sunshine, which set the tone for the day.
Once we arrived in Oxford, we were given a tour of the campus from a current undergraduate student, followed by a Q&A with an admissions officer (where lots of useful advice was given).
After lunch in the Grand Hall, students then split into two groups for Humanities and STEM lectures, both of which they greatly enjoyed.
As an added bonus, we were then given a guided tour around Oxford by one of our alumna (Ruby S-F) who fielded questions on all sorts of topics, including work and social life balance and how to choose a college and a course.
Out students were a credit to St George’s and we are delighted that so many of this cohort are already thinking of ‘aiming higher’ with their university applications: we are looking forward to further events and talks coming up over the next couple of months; including Progression Day.
