A Thrilling Fortnight of Sport
It’s been a thrilling few weeks for our Sports Department, with standout performances across multiple competitions!
Our cross‑country runners braved tough conditions at the HSAA Championships and did the school proud. Three athletes stormed into the top 12, and we now eagerly await news on whether they’ll be selected for the county squad. Those who qualify will go on to represent Hertfordshire at the National Finals in Liverpool this March. A fantastic effort from every runner.
Last week, Year 7 athletes lit up the Indoor Athletics event at Herts Uni, competing against 11 schools in a packed schedule of obstacle relays, paarlaufs, standing triple jump, shot put and more. The boys finished a strong 6th, while the girls powered their way to 2nd place—just one point off the top spot. St George’s also secured 2nd place overall. A brilliant start to the season, with outdoor athletics training kicking off in the summer term.
Huge congratulations go to Lilly, Hannah, Isla and Zara, who have been unstoppable in the badminton championships. After dominating the District round at Sir John Lawes, they carried their momentum into the County round at the University of Hertfordshire, where their teamwork and precision earned them the title of County Champions. They now head to the Regional Finals at Cambridge University on 2nd March—an incredible achievement.
Meanwhile, our U14A and B lacrosse teams delivered a superb showing at the County tournament in Bedford. The B team claimed a well‑deserved 3rd place, while the A team battled through a nail‑biting final against Berko, emerging victorious with a 6–5 win to become U14 County Champions 2026.
What a run of results—bring on the next fixtures!
