A message from the Head of House - September 2012

The Fun never stops!

Mr Muriss

The autumn term has a nasty habit of getting more and more frantic as the events keep piling up. Once you get Cross-country done, and congratulate Ollie Mann, Megan Hutchins for putting the teams together, and  Rory Cox on almost breaking the all-time record for the senior boys, it’s House music and there are thanks to be done for 104 superb musicians (and the condolences to the 30 or so who participated but didn’t get the chance to sing), then along comes the Chess tournament, the improvised drama contest, - more thanks to be given here—to Becky Horton this time, then it’s straight into the house Art competition, now its Christmas trees and so it goes on. Exhausting though it is, what makes the round of events so rewarding is that new names and faces come to the fore.

Grant House has had many heroes this term, including Miss Hooker, who has done so much to energise the teams, the senior prefect team of Luke, Lucy, Charlotte and Richard, who have done a  sterling job of keeping everything together, and staging a wonderful SPWOF spectacle, and the music captains, in particular Olivia Hessey, for bringing House Music together.  I cannot help but feel great admiration for all the players and participants who have been putting their best into everything. House events are ultimately all down to the participants themselves and in keeping with this theme, perhaps the single biggest achievement has been to get so many of you drawing your leaves for the House Art competition. Joining in and doing your bit is what makes this house as great as it is. I wish all Grant House a very happy break and look forward to getting you involved in the competitions next term.
